GA-X
Martin-Latimer - Undocumented
Criswell - Undocumented
Terry Cox - GEO-885-B-30
Act: December 23, 1837 (redemption date September 1, 1868)
Bond: 500 Pounds Sterling @ 5% interest
Coupons: Presumably 60 @ 12 Lbs and 10 Shillings each
Serial #163
Rarity: Only Example Known
Grade: VF
Note: Signed by Governor George Gilmer. This bond was referenced in Mack Martin’s book in the description of GA-1. I’ve also uploaded a coupon example. As I understand it, 200 of these bonds were issued to help pay the remaining cost of completing the 108 Mile track between “Terminus” (Atlanta) and the Tennessee Border. Interesting note, George Gilmer’s veto of State funding for this effort was over-ruled by state Congress.
GA-5
Martin-Latimer GA-5
Criswell - 61A
Act: December 11, 1861 (redemption date Feb 1, 1871)
Bond: $500 @ 8% interest
Coupons: 37 of 40 @ $8.75 each paid quarterly
Serial #689
Rarity: R8
Grade: VF
Note: Signed by Governor Joseph Brown. The printer’s imprint (R.H. Howell, Savannah, Ga.) found beneath Brown’s signature separates this example from GA-6 which lacks the printer’s imprint. Not extremely rare, but hard to find with all 40 coupons
GA-6
Martin-Latimer GA-6
Criswell - 61B
Act: December 11, 1861 (redemption date Feb 1, 1871)
Bond: $500 @ 8% interest
Coupons: 28 of 40 @ $8.75 each paid quarterly
Serial # 4566
Rarity: R9
Grade: VF
Note: Signed by Governor Joseph Brown. The missing printer’s imprint (R.H. Howell, Savannah, Ga.) separates this example from GA-5. Rare, and I would love to upgrade to a nice example with more coupons remaining.
