Plate Letter = D
Signed by = Williams for Cashier and Hoxey(?) for President
Rarity = URS-6

Note = Pretty vignette…this example has some rough edges and a small piece missing on the bottom right of the obverse. I’m confused that the serial # (2185) doesn’t make sense given the date is January 8th, 1840. My other two examples have lower serial #s but are dated Nov 16th, 1840

Note = Pretty vignette…to my knowledge, this is one of the two known examples. Mack Martin has the other example which he picked up in 2018 from a Heritage auction. I picked up this $50 and a $100 example from Julian Leidman on eBay. Fantastic pieces of rare Georgia railroad history. Neat contemporary inscription on back “I know not that my Redeemer liveth.” This is either reflective of a moment of religious uncertainty…or, given that the bank failed, a valid concern that the bill was not ultimately redeemable :-)
